Engine trouble is stressful, and the decision about what to do can be expensive. Our job is to find out exactly what's wrong and lay out your options clearly: repair the specific problem, rebuild, or replace the engine. Sometimes the honest answer is that the vehicle isn't worth a big engine repair, and we'll tell you that too.

How we approach big engine jobs
- Confirm the diagnosis with the right tests, such as compression, leak-down, oil analysis or a borescope look, before recommending major work.
- Lay out the options: targeted repair, rebuild, remanufactured or used engine, with the pros, cons and cost of each.
- Do the work and stand behind it. Qualifying repairs are covered by the NAPA Peace of Mind warranty.
Gas and diesel engines
We work on gas engines in cars, SUVs and trucks, and on diesel engines including Power Stroke and Cummins. Diesel engine work often involves head gaskets and head studs on the 6.0L Power Stroke, injector and injector cup work, and cooling-related damage. See diesel repair for more.
