Fuel System & Injector Repair

An engine needs the right amount of clean fuel at the right pressure. When the fuel system falls short, you get hard starts, stumbling, low power or a no-start. On diesels, fuel problems can also damage expensive high-pressure parts, so accurate diagnosis matters.

Signs of fuel system trouble

• Long cranking before it starts, or no-start
• Stalling, stumbling or hesitation under acceleration
• Loss of power, especially under load or uphill
• Fuel smell, or visible fuel leaks
• Poor fuel mileage
• On diesels: smoke, rough idle, a water-in-fuel light, or rising oil level on the dipstick

Gas engines

• Fuel pressure and volume testing
• In-tank fuel pump and sending unit replacement
• Fuel filter replacement where serviceable
• Fuel injector diagnosis and replacement, including direct-injection systems
• Fuel line, EVAP and fuel tank repairs

Diesel fuel systems

Diesel fuel systems are built to very tight tolerances, and they're unforgiving of water, dirt and low supply pressure. We handle:

• Fuel filters and water separators on schedule (the cheapest insurance a diesel owner can buy)
• Lift pumps and supply pressure testing. A weak lift pump is behind many "bad injector" and "bad injection pump" symptoms.
• Injectors: diagnosis, replacement, and injector o-ring and cup issues
• High-pressure pumps and rail pressure problems on common-rail engines
• HEUI oil-side problems on 7.3L and 6.0L Power Strokes
• Fuel contamination: water, gasoline in diesel, gelled fuel in winter
