The Cummins inline-six is one of the reasons so many people love their Dodge and Ram trucks. It's a simple, tough engine, but the fuel system, emissions equipment and the truck around it still need the right attention. We work on everything from first-gen Dodge trucks to current Ram 2500 and 3500 pickups.

5.9L 12-valve (1989–1998)

Mechanical injection and not much electronics. We see fuel leaks, lift pump problems, worn front ends and, on some engines, the infamous dowel pin in the timing case that's worth checking if it's never been addressed. These trucks are often worth keeping, and we're glad to help you keep yours running.

5.9L 24-valve (1998½–2002)

The VP44 injection pump is the component everyone talks about on these trucks, and a weak lift pump is often part of the story. We check fuel supply pressure before condemning an injection pump, and we look at the wiring and electrical side as well.

5.9L common-rail (2003–2007)

Common-rail brought more power and quieter running, along with sensitivity to fuel quality. Injector problems, fuel supply issues, accelerator pedal sensor faults and front-end wear are common topics. Clean fuel and on-time filter changes matter.

6.7L Cummins (2007½–present)

The 6.7L adds variable-geometry turbocharging, EGR, a diesel particulate filter and, from 2013 on, DEF. Typical work includes sticking turbo vanes, EGR valve and cooler issues, DPF regeneration problems, DEF system faults, NOx sensors, grid heater problems and coolant leaks, plus general service on the 68RFE and Aisin automatics and the manual transmissions behind them.

Ram 1500 EcoDiesel

We also work on the 3.0L EcoDiesel V6 in Ram 1500s, which has its own EGR and emissions system needs.

The rest of the Ram

Solid front axles on heavy-duty Rams wear track bars, tie rods and ball joints, and if you've felt the dreaded "death wobble" over a bump you know it's not something to ignore. See steering and suspension repair. We also handle brakes, differentials, cooling systems and A/C.

Cummins FAQ

Do you work on older Dodge Cummins trucks?

Yes. We work on 12-valve and 24-valve 5.9L trucks as well as the common-rail 5.9L and 6.7L.

My Ram has death wobble. Can you fix it?

Yes. Death wobble is usually caused by worn or loose front-end parts such as the track bar, tie rod ends or ball joints. We inspect the whole front end and replace what's actually worn.

Should I replace my VP44 injection pump?

Not until the fuel supply has been checked. A weak lift pump can cause symptoms that look like a failing VP44. We test before recommending a pump.
