Clutch Repair & Replacement
Slipping under load, chatter on takeoff or a pedal that feels wrong? We diagnose the whole clutch system, from the hydraulics to the flywheel.
A clutch is a wear item, and how long it lasts depends on driving style, load and what's bolted to the engine. When it starts to go, you'll usually feel it before it fails completely, which gives you time to plan the repair.
Signs your clutch needs attention
- Engine RPM rises but speed doesn't (slipping), especially in higher gears or under load
- Chatter or shudder when pulling away
- Pedal engages very high, feels soft or spongy, or sticks to the floor
- Grinding or difficulty getting into gear
- Burning smell after climbing a hill or backing a trailer
- Squealing or rumbling that changes when you press the pedal (release or pilot bearing)
What we do
- Test drive and diagnosis to confirm it's the clutch and not something else
- Hydraulic system repair: master and slave cylinders, lines and bleeding
- Clutch kit replacement: disc, pressure plate, release bearing and pilot bearing
- Flywheel resurfacing or replacement, including dual-mass flywheels
- Rear main seal replacement while it's apart, if it's leaking
Manual diesel trucks
Manual-transmission diesel pickups, such as Cummins Rams with the NV4500, NV5600 or G56, and Power Strokes with the ZF6 or ZF5, put serious torque through the clutch, especially when towing or when the engine has been turned up. Choosing a clutch that matches the truck's power and use matters. We'll talk through the options before we order parts. We also do clutch work on manual cars and gas trucks.
Awesome experience! Drew is very knowledgeable and honest.
